“You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.  Though he was God, he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to.  Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being.  When he appeared in human form, he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.  Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”  Philippians 2:5-11

If we want to see our world changed, this is the only way it will ever happen - every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.  As we reflect Him to those around us with a humble attitude, we not only become a positive influence on those we are called to love and serve, but we change ourselves as well.

To have a humble attitude is difficult for most of us.  We live in a world that seems to celebrate and advocate for just the opposite.  Pride has become the mantle worn by those who have elevated themselves and their agendas at the expense of others who might defy them or get in their way.  Today we live in a time when it’s okay to hate someone with whom you disagree just so long as they don’t use the same hate toward you.  It’s not a left thing or a right thing, it’s a sin thing.  We are at war with a spiritual power that is attempting to divide us and conquer us.  However, none of that makes sense to those who believe that change has a political answer, or an economic answer, or a social answer.  No, the reality is that those of us who belong to Jesus are part of a humble group, His church, that should allow His message to be heard over our own.  I’m just saying that if we all valued one another as much as God values us, then we would live our lives celebrating the One who has rescued us from the darkness and brought us into His marvelous light.

“For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone.  If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord.  So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.”  Romans 14:7-8  I hope that we all can put life into the perspective God intended us to have and live life to the fullest.  God is good all the time!  And all the time, God is good!

In Christ’s Love,

Rob, Romans 12
