April Notes from the Pastor

pastor notes aprMaundy Thursday is on April 1st and we will have a special service in the sanctuary at 6:00 p.m.  We will discuss and reflect upon the night that Jesus was betrayed.  This service will last about 30 minutes.  Please join us in-person or by live stream.

Our Easter Sunrise service this year will be led by CRE Pete Phelan at 6:30 a.m. on Easter morning.  Join Pete at the bell outside the Chapel for this special morning service.  In case of inclement weather, the service will be held indoors.

Easter Sunday is the highlight of the church year!  An exciting service is planned and I look forward to seeing everyone then.  It is a great time to invite someone to come with you and we will be sharing The Lord’s Supper with one another.

Our annual One Great Hour of Sharing special offering will be collected on Easter Sunday during worship.  Information about this year’s offering can be found on the table at the church entrance.

A big thanks to the youth who shared their gifts of music with us last month!  Thanks to Parker Evans for playing clarinet, Hudson Stahl for playing violin and Jackson Bower for playing cello.

We’ll recognize the winner of our March Madness bracket contest in April.  Good luck!

Charlie

March Notes from the Pastor

pastor notes marOur Lenten season continues through March.  Each Sunday, we will continue to engage in the “Lenten Discipline” of self-examination.  This process enables us to better receive the great joy of Easter morning.  Palm Sunday will be March 28th.  Be sure to join us on this special Sunday as we recognize the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem.

Here’s some THANKS for all those who helped contribute toward the Souper Bowl of Caring this year.  Our local food bank certainly appreciates our collection efforts.

Last year, March Madness was canceled.  This year, the games are on and I will be hosting a church wide bracket contest.  This is for bragging rights only and the winner will be recognized during a worship service in April.  To enter your bracket, visit the site at www.thebigtourney.com/madness/site671876/  (You may have to copy and paste this link in your browser.)  If you would rather drop off a paper bracket at the church office, this is fine too.  I can enter your picks for you.  All members, family and friends are welcome to participate...all are invited!  May the best bracket win!
