Ephesians 1:15-20

Jesus living in me - a mystical, blind leap of faith?

We cannot live the Christian life apart from Christ.

  • Like a branch abiding in the vine, Christ can live through us.  John 15:5

So then, how do we learn to "abide" in Jesus?

  • Jesus points us to His Word.  John 8:31-32, 36

It is important to not separate Christ as the LIVING Word from the Bible as the WRITTEN Word.

Christianity stands alone, separate from all other religions.

  • Only by bringing Jesus into our daily lives will we ever grow in His grace.

The printed Word alone, doctrines, and theology cannot satisfy the "God-shaped vacuum" in our hearts.

To grow spiritually, we need both:

  • A commitment to Scripture, and
  • A humble recognition of our dependence on God's Spirit.

"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.  The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me."  Galatians 2:20
