1 Samuel 24
Eyes in the dark (verses 1-4)
Conscience, even in the dark (verses 5-6)
Why didn't David get revenge while he could?
- He respected Saul's God-given authority. (verses 8, 10)
- He was willing to wait for God. (verses 11-12)
- He didn't want to lower himself to Saul's level. (verse 13)
We cannot control what others say and do.
We do have complete control over how we respond.
- Watch your words.
- Focus on Jesus.
- Lay your burden down.
God of Grace, I thank You that Jesus covered my sin with His innocent blood. I confess to You that I hold resentment toward __________. Even though Jesus died for my sin, I have remained angry over what __________ has done. Father, I ask You to do what You think is best in this situation. Please forgive me for harboring anger and bitterness. Set me free, God, from this bondage and please keep me from it for the rest of my life. Teach me to forgive as Jesus did. I pray this in the name of the One who has forgiven every sin of mine, Jesus Christ, my Savior and Lord. Amen.
