Are We Following Christ?
- Written by Pete Phelan Pete Phelan
Because you have rejected the word of the LORD, he has rejected you… [1 Samuel 15:23]
Therefore, as a tongue of fire consumes stubble and dry grass collapses into the flame, so their root will become like rot and their blossom blow away as dust; For they have rejected the law of the LORD of hosts and despised the word of the Holy One of Israel. [Isaiah 5:24]
The wise men are put to shame, they are dismayed and caught; Behold, they have rejected the word of the LORD, and what kind of wisdom do they have? [Jeremiah 8:9]
They made their hearts like flint so that they could not hear the law and the words which the LORD of hosts had sent by His Spirit through the former prophets; therefore great wrath came from the LORD of hosts. [Zechariah 7:12]
There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; the very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last day. [John 12:48]
Two men are standing before God on the Day of Judgment. One, an unemployed father of four, went into a grocery, stuffed a ham under his shirt, ran out into the street and was hit by a truck and died. The other robbed a bank and was killed in a shootout with the police. As they stood there, did God see a man who was trying to feed his family and a man who stole money and tried to kill the police officers? No, He did not. He saw two sinners.
As I write this, a local man has been arrested for horrendous crimes against a child. According to the evidence against him, it is rightly so. If convicted he may never get out of prison. When God looks upon him on judgment day whom will He see? When the ordained practicing homosexual minister and his monogamous marriage partner stand before God, will they be judged the same as the as the child rapist? “Oh No!” we say. “Oh, Yes!” says God. If we do not REPENT, we will serve a life sentence in Hell.
Sometimes we like to pick and chose what we want to follow in the Bible. However, we can’t be a Christian and go against what God says. We can’t be half Christian. We have to be a whole one.
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. [Revelation 22:18-19]
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. [John 1:1-5]
But whosoever shall deny Me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven. [Matthew 10:33]
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. [John 10:27]
