Psalm 27

“One thing I have asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in His temple.”  [Psalm 27:4]

A defining moment meets a divided heart.

David's one pursuit:

  • “to live with God in His house my whole life long”

Pursuing one thing:

  • True pursuit of any thing involves desire and action

Why pursue a life with God?

  • “to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord”  (to know God’s character)
  • “and to inquire in God’s temple.”  (to know God’s wisdom)

Our focus is on one thing:

  • It is either God or self.

Focus:  Our choice is God, and we can go in His direction for our lives, or our choice is self, and we can follow a path that is cluttered by many distractions.
