Second Sunday in Lent

February 25, 2018

John 7:53-8:11

Consider what it feels like to be labelled by others.  Now consider being labelled in the center aisle of our sanctuary.

Stones of judgement cause much pain.

"Here's my judgement," Jesus said.  "Whoever is perfect, let 'er fly!"

According to the rules, she deserved to die, but Jesus brought compassion along with justice.

What might Jesus have to say about the pride of someone saying, "I'm glad I'm not like those people!"

Have you ever witnessed the abuse of judgementalism -

  • in social media?
  • in conversation?
  • in your own thoughts or actions?

This lenten season we our encouraged to drop our stones at the foot of the cross.  Second chances feel much better than self-righteous judgement.
