June Youth News

juneOur appreciation goes out to everyone who helped support our Grill Masters/Sweet Treats competition and Youth Fundraiser.  Your generosity gave our youth $720 which will be used to help pay for future mission trips, local and out of our community, as well as the weekly gatherings.  We had a huge crowd come out to support and encourage Olivia Thomas as she finishes up her high school career and heads off to Maryville University in St. Louis to play volleyball and continue her education.  We wish her much success and blessings as she enters this chapter of her life.  June 25th - July 1st is our Presbytery of Western Kentucky High School Mission Trip.  Please pray for Haley Cope, Isabella Tapp, Dee Allen, Hunter Harris and Jonathon Yates, as well as for Michael Milam and myself as we join others to venture to Chicago for our Mission Trip.  We will partner with local organizations to meet ongoing needs in the community.  During the week, students may serve at a food shelf, clothing distribution center, soup kitchen, children's program, or elderly care facility.  We appreciate your prayers of support for our trip and that God will be glorified in all that we do and say.  We will not meet in June or July to give everyone time to spend with family and friends, and to enjoy the summer break.  But keep watching for upcoming surprises that may be on the horizon.

May Youth News

MayFlowersPlease come celebrate our graduating senior Olivia Thomas at our annual Grill Masters and Sweet Treats competition and dinner on May 3rd at 5:15.  We will have a time after dinner, around 6, to remember all the great memories of how Olivia has blessed our church family.  This is also a fundraiser for our youth program, so we appreciate all the support you give.  Hope to see you there!

April Youth News

april showersThanks to everyone who prayed for and helped out with the Western Kentucky Presbytery youth retreat held here at our church.  A special thanks goes to Becky Moore and James McClain who came in and cooked and helped with clean up.  Thank you to everyone who provided homemade goodies for the retreat too.  We had a blessed time together with 25 students and 9 adults participating. We worked at the Hopkins County Humane Society and Hopkins County Christian Food Bank on Saturday.  We pray that all who were here grew deeper in their knowledge of God’s love for them!

Thanks to everyone who came and contributed to our Ash Wednesday Youth Fundraiser.  We were blessed to receive $1040.00 to help fund all the activities we do with our youth groups. Thanks for your support and encouragement!

February Youth News

ValentineFor most people, February 5th is a day to gather, watch the Super Bowl, and enjoy the food that goes along with the event.  Several years ago a youth group decided that those in need of food should become the focus for the day.  Thus the Souper Bowl of Caring was started.  It has now grown into an amazing resource for food banks across our country.  Our congregation is once again giving all donated food to the Christian Food Bank of Hopkins County.  We hope that this year our gift will be more generous than ever before.  Thanks for your support!

On March 1st we'll have our annual Ash Wednesday Youth Fundraiser meal.  Please come and show your support for our youth as we provide lots of homemade soups, sandwiches, and desserts.  Also plan to stay for our Ash Wednesday service as we begin the season of Lent.  If you would like to provide soup, sandwiches, or dessert please contact Rob or Denise.  Thanks!

On March 3rd and 4th our church will host the Presbytery of West Kentucky Winter Retreat for 6th through 12th grade students.  We will share times of worship, prayer, play, rest and service.  Of course, we will also have several meals together too.  If you can help with the preparation of any of these meals, or by providing snacks, please contact Rob or Denise.  Please pray that we will seek God and follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit as we prepare for and participate in this retreat.

January Youth News

JanuaryThanks so much for all the encouragement and support you’ve given our youth over the past year, and specifically the past couple of months.  Six students - Hunter Harris, Dee Allen, Isabella Tapp, Haley Cope, Emily Fischels and Keelie Carter - attended the W. KY Presbytery Youth Fall Retreat with Michael Milam and myself.  It was another great experience to grow closer to God.  Four of our students attended Chrysalis #55 - Kaleb White, Ashlee Goodwin, Makayla Stone and Emilee Higgs.  After our fundraiser in November we were able to buy gifts for four Angel Tree children and sports balls for the Christmas Palooza event for low income children held at Browning Springs.  Thanks "bigly" for the $1002.00 you donated.  Our youth did an amazing job shopping for and blessing those children here in our community.

October Youth News

octoberOn October 12th, the Youth Group will meet in the home of Rob & Denise for dinner.

The annual Fall Retreat at Camp Loucon is November 4th-6th, and the cost is $30.  The deadline for signup is October 16th.  The forms that you need can be found in the youth room.

Thank you to all who contributed to our Soup & Sandwich youth fundraiser!  We so appreciate your investing in the students who call our group home!  Our average attendance on Wednesday nights is 17 middle and high school students, and may vary from 15 to 23 depending on the night.  And yes, they are part of our family here and we are so blessed to have them!
