February Youth News

ValentineWe will have a Youth Fundraising Dinner on Ash Wednesday, February 14th, at 5:15 pm.  Please come support our youth as we provide a meal of homemade soups, grilled cheese sandwiches, and homemade desserts.  We look forward to seeing you there!  Please plan to stay for our Ash Wednesday service following the meal at 6 pm.  Thanks for all your encouragement and support for these young folks who call our church "home"!

December Youth News

December2Thanks to all who came out to support our Angel Tree fundraiser.  As always, 100% of your donations go toward buying Christmas gifts for Angel Tree kids.  Thanks also for your prayers as we had another amazing Fall Retreat at Camp Loucon.  We were blessed abundantly over that weekend retreat!  Your support and encouragement this year have resulted in children and youth hearing and experiencing the message of God's goodness.  We pray that we will continue to lead them and encourage them to seek God, love God, and give God all they have, and then love their neighbors as themselves.

The Christmas Party for the Youth Group will be on December 13th at the Wilson’s home.  Bring a $10 Dirty Santa gift, and enjoy a meal and good fun!

On December 18th, we will venture out for our annual Christmas Break road trip for middle and high school students.  It will include a meal, movie and ice skating.  See Rob or Denise for more details.

October Youth News

octoberThanks to everyone who supported our Youth Appreciation night on September 6th.  Danny Byrum, Jane Mosley and Janet McClain gave some great advice and shared some good stories, and many others gave their time to show support for our young people.  Our youth were very thankful and we have heard great reviews from everyone who participated.

Please note that we will have a Youth Group Fundraiser on Wednesday evening, October 4th.  We'll have homemade soups, grilled cheese sandwiches, Subway sandwiches, and homemade desserts.  This is our first fundraiser for the school year and we appreciate your continued support, as we strive to know Jesus and make Him known in our youth groups.  I hope to see all of you there!

November 10th thru 12th is the Camp Loucon Fall Retreat for all Western Kentucky Presbytery middle and high school students.  The cost for the retreat this year is $35, and we hope to have a large group go. There will be more details as we get closer to retreat time.

Youth Appreciation Day

yad logo genericWednesday, September 6th, is Youth Appreciation Day at FPC.  We need 20 people to purchase $25 gift cards from local restaurants or stores, or Chamber Checks, etc. to be given to middle & high school youth. Each giver is asked to attend a celebration from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm and meet the recipient, as well as take part in hearing brief testimonies and just hanging out with our teens. Please sign your name to the gift card and turn it into Dawn in the church office or give it to Rob. Thanks for your support of our youth!

August Youth News

augustOur Wednesday evening youth groups will start back on August 16th.  As usual, we will kick things off with a night of fun water games!  Please don’t park in or near the upper lot unless you want to get wet. We want to invite everyone to feel free to bring their friends into our family.  This year we will give 6th graders the option to stay on with the Discovery Club if they would like.  We would also like to remind all middle and high school students that Sunday school will be offered each Sunday morning at 9 AM beginning on August 20th.  This year we would like to extend an invitation to anyone who would like to help out with youth fundraisers.  Please consider helping to organize and lead any or all of them.  The dates for those fundraisers are October 4th, November 29th, February 14th, and May 9th.  Contact Rob is you’re interested.

July Youth News

As you read this, we will have returned from our High School Mission Trip to Chicago.  Thank you to all who supported this trip through your prayers and donations.  Your generosity made it possible for some to go who otherwise could not afford the trip, and for that we are very thankful.  Through your support, you had a part in their reflecting Jesus to the good folks of Chicago, and their growing in love and knowledge of our Lord and Savior.  God bless you all and thanks again for your ongoing encouragement and support of our youth here!

June Youth News

juneOur appreciation goes out to everyone who helped support our Grill Masters/Sweet Treats competition and Youth Fundraiser.  Your generosity gave our youth $720 which will be used to help pay for future mission trips, local and out of our community, as well as the weekly gatherings.  We had a huge crowd come out to support and encourage Olivia Thomas as she finishes up her high school career and heads off to Maryville University in St. Louis to play volleyball and continue her education.  We wish her much success and blessings as she enters this chapter of her life.  June 25th - July 1st is our Presbytery of Western Kentucky High School Mission Trip.  Please pray for Haley Cope, Isabella Tapp, Dee Allen, Hunter Harris and Jonathon Yates, as well as for Michael Milam and myself as we join others to venture to Chicago for our Mission Trip.  We will partner with local organizations to meet ongoing needs in the community.  During the week, students may serve at a food shelf, clothing distribution center, soup kitchen, children's program, or elderly care facility.  We appreciate your prayers of support for our trip and that God will be glorified in all that we do and say.  We will not meet in June or July to give everyone time to spend with family and friends, and to enjoy the summer break.  But keep watching for upcoming surprises that may be on the horizon.
